Milk Link, Our Business, Local Groups

Members are allocated to a Local Group on the basis of geographical area. Each Local Group is entitled to elect at least one Council Member plus a further Council Member for every 25 million litres produced in excess of 25 million litres within the Local Group.

Each Member has one vote, but his/her vote is weighted according to the volume they consign to the co-operative. Members thus have a say in the governance of the co-operative in proportion to their volume and the make-up of the Council reflects this. This is an important principle as capital invested is related to volume. There are currently 18 Local Groups.
